Arizona State handyman exemption

Arizona requires anyone performing construction work valued at over $1,000 to have a contractor’s license, sometimes called an Arizona handyman license.

We stay within the constraints of unlicensed handyman services by accepting smaller projects that neither require a building permit nor cost more than $1,000 in labor and materials.

We only perform work under this threshold, We do not need a license to be a handyman in Arizona. We instead perform work under the state handyman exemption.

Generally, if labor and materials exceed $1,000 OR a permit is required (regardless of the price of labor and materials), then a license is required. Please read the Arizona Revised Statutes on "Persons not required to be licensed; penalties; applicability" ARS §32-1121
